Tech Garage — Custom Brand Tech

“Stop trying to be the loudest brand in haircare.
Be the first and only one in hair health.”

— Mia Woike‑Everett, Rebel Arcade

The brief asked for a product launch moment to publicize their Acidic Bonding Concentrate repair formula. We asked why a category built on repairing damage doesn’t have a personalized damage diagnosis touchpoint yet. That’s not just a launch. That’s category ownership positioning.

Damage Dispatch: a white Redken ambulance in iridescent livery, blue beacons lit, seen three-quarter from the front, reading DAMAGED HAIR URGENT CARE above Acidic Bonding Concentrate — repairs, strengthens, restores.

Damage DispatchUrgent care for hair

The Redken Hair Health Scan station: a camera bar above a tablet on a brushed-steel stand, its screen reading Hair Health Analysis with an overall score of 64 out of 100, seven signs of damage scored beside it, and a recommended Acidic Bonding Concentrate routine on the right.

The scanSeven signs of damage

Level 01 / The Brief

Create an experience that helps consumers see the Acidic Bonding Concentrate products as the ultimate answer to damaged hair.

  • Science and innovation. 60 years of hair technology.
  • Mandatories: buzz and FOMO. Data capture is critical.
  • Competitive repair brand launching in August. Requires differentiation.
  • Built for bleached hair — the most dramatic proof — but it has to cover sun, wind and everyday wear. Redken products are for all types of hair damage.
  • Budget: $500,000. Potential for a summer extension.
Level 02 / The Problem

Competitors have diluted the “scientific”
positioning that Redken once owned.

Damage-care advice is everywhere. There’s a lot of noise in the industry, but we need to showcase Redken’s expertise in pH balancing and bond repair.

On the other side of the shelf, repair is a claim every brand makes, and nothing on a bottle tells a shopper which one is real. Most people know their hair feels wrong; almost nobody can name what is wrong with it. No way to measure the problem, no way to judge the solution.

Level 03 / Our Strategy

“Redken must make hair damage personal first — a diagnostic, offered to the same people who already screen for every other health marker.”

Mia Woike‑Everett

Being told to repair your hair before you know how damaged it is creates dissonance — the fix arrives ahead of the problem. A reading closes that gap, and it changes what the brand is doing: the finding is yours, so what follows lands as advice rather than a pitch. That posture already exists in this audience — they track their sleep, read their labels, get their levels checked. Hair health belongs on that list, and no brand had put it there.

Level 04 / The Tech

One tech solution to capture seven signs of damage and develop custom treatment plans.

We focused on the damage that goes mostly unseen — porosity, elasticity, cuticle lift, breakage, split ends, color fade, scalp condition — to give visitors a more personal look at their hair health. The result was an AI‑powered program that can be used for brand awareness far beyond the ABC product line.

Level 05 / The Activation

Show up where health is already top of mind.

The objective was placement: meet people where the health mindset is already switched on. A gym floor supplies it, and it is the room where heat, sweat and daily washing do the damage in the first place. The street does not, so the second build carries the signal itself — Damage Dispatch is an ambulance, silhouette and urgent-care language, sirens included. People understand what it is before they read a word of it.

Level 06 / The Why

The Hair Health Scan builds the demand that Acidic Bonding Concentrate then answers.

A campaign rents attention for the length of a flight. A diagnostic makes the case for the product and then keeps making it. The result is specific enough to prescribe against, so the recommendation converts in the room rather than months later on a shelf. The re-scan gives people a reason to come back and a number to come back to, which a bottle has never had. And the tool belongs to Redken, so it outlives the launch it was built for.

For Approved Partner Agencies Only

Pitch the work without losing your time, team, and entire stinking mind.

We work brand‑direct, with one exception: a (very) short list of agencies whose pitch work we help lead. We do the hard work, they take the W. Go Bayside!

L1 RFP Selection One agency per RFP, selected on approval and first‑come basis. The rebels join to take the lead and own the full pitch workload with daily check‑ins that keep our teams aligned. Get approved →
L2 Pitch Development We’ll run the whole pitch. Or the part you’re missing. Research and strategy through emerging tech and finished creative — the narrative fully built, in a deck that carries it. More on that →
L3 Production Prep We prep the build, lock the budget, and flag the feasibility risks early. It’ll be ready for your team to proof, finalize and send.

The Pitch Fit

$790 million

That’s how much we’ve helped win for agencies. A whole bunch of gaming quarters.Read that again with the Top Gun theme playing to make it sound super cool.

Small roster, by design. It’s the only way to protect the quality, the value, and the kind of partnership that’s worth having.

Urgent RFP Request
The Pitch Rebellion patch — a tiger, established 2026

The Pitch Rebellion

The cost of “free” pitch work and RFP responses is higher than ever.

For every brand that expects free pitch work and RFP responses, dozens of people perform unpaid labor, experience financial losses, and put their intellectual property at risk of theft and unpaid usage. We’re over it.
